Yes!

• Click on any object to highlight it. 
• Select control + D. 
• Then drag the copied object to its desired position. 
• Want to make five duplicates? Press control + D five times.

You can select multiple items on the screen by clicking one, then holding the Shift key and click other items. Or hold the Shift key, click away from items, then drag the mouse to draw a rectangle to select multiple items. Hitting Ctrl-D for "duplicate" will duplicate all the selected items.
