What are the minimum device requirements for the program/app to run?

TeacherMade runs entirely in your browser and our minimum device requirements match those of the browsers we are compatible with. That's a long-winded way to say if you can run a browser, you can run TeacherMade. We are compatible with the most recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge browsers. Our student interface is also compatible with iOS and Android browsers. The teacher interface will work on those devices and can be used to check on student progress, but we recommend larger screens for content editing and grading.

TeacherMade requires JavaScript and uses internet cookies to identify users throughout their session. While the application can be embedded in Canvas and Schoology, we require the activity to launch in a new window if students will be using Safari or the Canvas app, both of which block third party cookies. We are also not compatible with Chrome's incognito mode, which by default blocks the cookies we need to identify users.

Bandwidth requirements are fairly minimal, and depend on the size of the uploaded worksheet background. The student application is about 400K, and benefits from caching on second launch. The rest of the bandwidth is very dependent on the worksheet contents. PDFs are converted to compressed PNG images, and typically require about 200-300K per page, again benefiting from caching where applicable. The rest of the data representing the worksheet is very compact and delivered in JSON format to the student application. For an average 2 or 3 page worksheet, the total per-student download could be about 1.5MB. Additional audio and image components could add to that.
