How To Tag Questions With State Standards |
If you'd like to use TeacherMade's standards reporting tools, you'll first need to tell the system which standards apply to your questions. You can even do this after you've given the Activity to your students.
To tag questions in your Activity with the relevant standards, follow these steps:
- Edit the Activity (or its Answer Key if you've already created Assignments).
- Click any question.
- From the "Edit" menu, select "Item standard(s)."
- Click "Search Standards" or select from the list of recently used standard sets.
- Click your state.
- You'll also find other standards documents here, such as the Next Generation Science Standards.
- Click the Subject.
- Click the Grade Level
- Click the standard that applies to the question.
You will return to the Standards selection box, with the standard's abbreviation now displayed at the top.
You can hover your mouse over the standard abbreviation to read the full text of the standard.
- Click "Save Changes" when you are done.
Tagging Multiple Standards
A single question may be aligned to multiple standards. To continue adding standards to the same question, click "Search Standards" again, and you will be return to the standards document without first choosing state, subject and grade. Select the second standard.
Removing Standards From a Question
To remove an existing standard alignment from a question, follow these steps:
- Click the question.
- From the "Edit" menu, choose "Item Standards."
- Click the "x" next to the standard you wish to remove from the question.
- Click "Save Changes."
Shortcuts
TeacherMade remembers your most recently selected standards documents and your most recently selected standards. If
you use the same standards document frequently, look for it in this list, rather than searching by state, subject and grade:
TeacherMade also remembers the standards you most recently aligned. If you're tagging a lot of questions with the same standard, look for the standard in this list and click it, rather than searching:
Standards alignments will be copied any time you copy a question, so one quick way to align all the questions on a quiz or test is to create the first question, align it to the standard, then use the Ctrl-D shortcut to Duplicate the question. Drag the duplicate question to the correct place on your activity, then change its answer key as needed and you're all done!
